A Table Re-Do

Ya'll know I hate to paint, right?

Well, I've got a list a mile long of things that need to be painted. The largest items on that list include most rooms of my house and the exterior of my home. Well, since both of those projects leave my wallet on empty and me wanting to crawl under my bed, I thought I would attempt something much easier.

(The drawer is holding my sandpaper. I didn't want it to blow away.)

We've had this piece of furniture since we moved into our home. We paid a little extra for our house to have some of the furnishings, curtains, ect... Bad move because this table is all that we have left from that transaction. Ok, not entirely bad bc I sold a bunch of the stuff in a yard sale last year, but who's really counting.

Anyways. This sewing table has been the thorn in my side since it became "mine". First of all, I think it's ugly. It's in rough shape. The drawer isn't really a drawer at all. It affords no storage. The casters drove me crazy. And I never had a place for it. I had the intention of selling it at my own yardsale this summer....but then I got a wild hare/hair (??) and decided to paint it.


I chose one of the most windiest days of the season. I like to live on the wild side.


I decided to try and sand the sucker though the sound of sanding puts me through the roof. I remidied it by putting in my IPod and cranking it right up.

I then painted the table up. I used super cheap-o Walmart paint - decided never to buy that again.

Three quarters of the way through, I ran out of cheap paint. What's a girl to do? Get creative and use chalkboard paint.

Yep, I did.


In the end, I love how it turned out.

Here it is set up next to our front door. And just so you know, I've since painted the baseboards and the curtains have been changed out. Yikes.

My hubby is a bit of a mess with his shoes and hunting "stuff". So, I decided to stop trying to beat him and join him. His boots get a place of honor under the table. And don't tell him....but I like how they look.
