New Shutterfly Winners!

I also needed to select two new winners for the Shutterfly giveaway. I posted comments on your blogs ladies so make sure you email me back and I will send out your code!

I hate to have to choose new winners but remember, have your email connected to your profile or blog in some way so I can get ahold of you in the future. It's so fun to win a giveway but it's a big bummer when you don't get to collect your prize.

It's a Giveaway with Kate Pixley Designs!

It's Giveaway Day and I'm so excited! I've got a really great giveaway for you today.

My Coffee Cozy from Kate Pixley Designs

A few weeks ago, I was looking for a coffee cozy. I think they are the cutest things but besides being cute, they are eco-friendly. You don't have to use those cardboard sleeves anymore! I hopped onto my favorite site, Etsy, to find the perfect one. I ended up coming across Kate Pixley Designes shop. Together we were able to come up with the cutest coffee cozy...complete with a ruffle! I LOVE ruffles!

My Coffee Cozy from Kate Pixley Designs
I was so impressed with Kate's workmanship. I instantly fell inlove with my adorable coffee cozy. I just had to ask her if she would be interested in sponsoring a giveaway for all my fabulous readers...and she said yes! So here we go!

Here is a bit about Kate and her shop.

Ruffled Tote Bag
I am Kati, I grew up moving around a lot! I lived in Tuscaloosa Alabama where most of my family lives and then moved to Vancouver British Columbia which is where I live with my husband and two amazing kids!!!

Name Pillow
I started to design items when I was a little girl. I always found fashion AMAZING! Last year for my 25+1 birthday my grandma from Alabama sent a life changing present... a sewing machine. She told me it was my time and I needed to start to bring my designs to life. So there my sewing machine sat... I was so nervous... "I can't sew".... well that was last June... My mom pulled the machine out and showed me how to thread and sew a straight line... then when she went home I went to the fabric store bought some scraps and made my very first name pillow... which is now my most popular item. By September I had a business and I decided to open an etsy shop. I came up with Kate Pixley as my dad calls me Pix, Pixley and Pixie as I was SUPER tiny when I was a kid...

Ruffle Coffee Cozy

My shop has actually three lines... {k.p.d} is my main line, coffee cozies, make-up bags and tote bags. Little Pix is my baby and kids line which has Personalized Name Pillows, baby change stations, bibs and car seat covers etc. Then my newest line which debuted in Feb 2011, Morning Doll by Kate Pixley, which is my wedding line which carries feather fascinators, bird cage veils, ring bearer pillows and much much more. I love having three seperate and unique lines to dedicate my time to, I am always changing and this allows me an amazing chance to express myself in more than one way. I named my wedding line Morning Doll after my grandparents. My grandpa called my grandma doll and I would always hear him say "Morning Doll" when he would greet her in the morning... and as she gave me my machine it just seemed perfect.

Ruffle Makeup Bag

Also a little about me.... While I talk A LOT, I love to listen and I love meeting the people who visit my on line store {http://www.katepixleydesigns.com/} I love knowing why they came, what they wanted and who the item is for... I just had an order for a teacher and I was asked to write a card and it was so touching for me... I love being apart of the lives and when I know something about you I sincerly take it to heart when I make your item, I think about what you requested, and how I might be able to add that special unique touch. This is why I do what I do... So please stop by and tell me something about you...

Shaklee Basic H2 Review and a Giveaway!

Have you heard of Shaklee before? It's the number one natural nutritional company in the U.S. and they have been around for more than 50 years. They offer a host of products from cleaning supplies, to weight related products and skincare. I've wanted to try Shaklee ever since I saw it on the Oprah show. I've come across numerous reviews on different Shaklee products out there in blogland and truly, it made me want the product even more. I determined that when we move back into our home I wanted to purchase myself some Shaklee.

Imagine my excitment when I saw that Elisabeth from Bargain Blondie was giving away samples of Shaklee's #1 selling cleaning product, Basic H2, for bloggers to review. I signed myself right up! I couldn't wait to try the product.

First I purchased two spray bottles. My little vial of Shaklee Basic H2 would make me a 16 oz. bottle of  window/mirror cleaner and a 16 oz. bottle of General Cleaner.

After measuring out the appropriate amounts of water and Shaklee Basic H2 concentrate, I had myself two bottles of healthy cleaners. And then I got to work.

Window Before
Over winter the large window in my inlaws living room was caulked shut as it was leaking air. During the process of caulking, the moist environment and probably a host of other factors left the window ledge moldy. The other day my mother-in-law decided to remove the caulking so she could open the window and that's when we all saw the mold. We let out a collected "Ew!" and I said "Can I clean that?" I wanted to put my Basic H2 to work!

Window After

Window After

I first began using a paper towel to do my scrubbing. I had little luck with that so instead I used a cleaning rag. I sprayed down the window sill and allowed the cleaner to sit for a few minutes to really do its work. I then used some good old fashioned elbow grease to scrub that mold off. I would say that the whole process took less than fifteen minutes - and that mold was thick. I did need to do some scraping with my fingernail (wrapped in the rag of course) to get some of the thicker mold off but as you can see by the after pictures, most all of it came off! The dark spots left are peeling paint and the darker wood exposed underneath. There was some stubborn mold left in the cracks of caulking that I was not able to get too...but for a general cleaner, I was impressed. So was my mother-in-law. They are replacing that window later this summer but we are happy that the Basic H worked like a horse and cleaned the window so well.

Annoying Baby Toy Before

Next up was a baby toy. This summer my goal is to buy my little girl a bunch of baby toys from yard sales. That's what's on my radar. But, let's be honest. There have been other mouths and hands and drool and goo and germs all over these toys and I want a safe way to get it off! I checked with Elisabeth if Shaklee was safe to use on baby products and she assured me it was. Knowing enough about Shaklee, I was pretty sure it was safe but wanted to double check. I also asked her if I would need to wash the Basic H2 off before I gave the toy to my daughter, and again, she said it was safe. More about that in a minute!

Annoying Baby Toy Before

This toy is hands down one of the most annoying toys...ever. But it's lasted through my neice (who is now 4 and a half), my nephew, and now Aubrey. I'm pretty sure it was from another family before we got it four years ago. It had been in my mom's storage room for the past year and then she passed it along to us. I decided to give it a cleaning.

Annoying Baby Toy After
I should have taken much closer photos because all over were little spots of white (that I'm assuming was spit up or dried drool), scuff marks, and bits of dirt and such in the crevices of the toy. My Basic H2 got it all off!! I'm sure that I would have had that kind of success with another cleaner - but to know that Basic H2 was safe for my daughter to have her hands all over left me with such piece of mind. I can't wait to get some more yardsale toys and use my Basic H2!

Dirty Window Before (Note the new outdoor furniture!!)
Lastly, I used the window/mirror cleaner to clean the screen door window. It was so hard to get a photo of the pollen, dust and streaks all over the glass but rest assured, they were there. I used a piece of newspaper instead of a paper towel. Have you done this before? It's an excellent way to clean glass. Lint free!

Dirty Window After
My window/mirror cleaner worked like a charm. The glass was left sparkly clean. (Note that it was very hard to take before and after photos of a dirty window!)

Overall, I'm so happy with the product. I'm happy to know that the things my little girl will touch are cleaned effectively and safely. Once I am back in my house, I am going to use this idea that Elisabeth passed onto me from her mom. She has a blog too...I follow along. She posted about how to make homemade baby wipes. But the beauty is, those wipes can also be used to clean surfaces! I LOVE cleaning wipes like Clorox or Lysol brand. But I'm pitching those for the Shaklee wipes. I've yet to make them but once I'm moved back into my home, I will. I love cleaning wipes so much!

This beautiful Basic H2 product can be used in so many different ways. You can use it to clean fabric, hard surfaces, windows and mirrors, your skin/hands, to remove wallpaper, getting out fish oders and to clean boat algae....to just name a tiny few of the things this product can do. If you are interested in Shaklee, you need to talk to Elisabeth. She can tell you about some amazing specials that Shaklee has and you can even order Basic H2 and all of the other Shaklee products from her.

And now for the giveaway! Elisabeth has kindly offered up a sample of Basic H2 to FIVE of my readers! Woot!! You can mix your own two bottles of 16 oz. cleaners! Yeah!! There are a couple ways to enter!

1. Be a follower of my blog.
2. Follow Elisabeth's blog, Bargain Blondie.
3. Tweet It, Facebook It, Blog About It

Make sure to leave a SEPERATE COMMENT for each thing you do! Good luck!!

Winner will be announced on Wednesday, May 25!

It's a CSN Giveaway!

I'm not sure about where you live, but in our neck of the woods, we've been experiencing freezing temperatures the past few weeks. And when I say freezing, I mean, freezing. We've dipped down into the -47 degree range and have been steadily experiencing temps in the -35 to -20 degree range. I found myself telling my husband how I just can't wait for Spring and Summer. I can't wait to plant my garden, take Aubrey for walks in her stroller and take her to the park to swing on the swing set. Needless to say, I'm ready for winter to be done-zo.

So while we have a bunch of winter left to go through, I thought I'd sweeten up the day of one lucky reader and have a giveaway. The folks at CSN have offered up a $35 gift certificate to one of the sweet readers of Finding Home. The beauty of this giveaway is that they have over 200+ websites so you are bound to find something you love! Hopefully this will chase some winter blues away.

It's so easy to enter. There are two ways to have a chance at winning the $35 gift certificate.

1. Leave a comment on this post for a chance to win.

2. Write a blog post about the giveaway, tweet it, or facebook it. Then leave a seperate comment telling me you've done so. Please do not comment on CSN's facebook page though. It violates Facebook's policy.

I'll the draw the winner's name on Saturday, Febraury 5th. This giveaway is only open to USA and Canadian Finding Home readers.  Good luck!

200th Post and a Giveaway!

Hello 200!!

My 200th post snuck right up on me but it really couldn't have come at a better time. Why is that, you ask? Well, I've been in contact with Jamie from CSN Stores about a giveaway opportunity. They have a number of websites which are all so great. I kicked back on one of my sofas and began browsing. I first hit up allmodern.com which features great contemporary furniture and accessories. Then I logged onto allmodernbaby.com. I have a new nephew and I looove to spoil him! And finally I spent some time tooling around allmodernpet.com.. My husband trains hunting dogs and we have our own kennel so you can bet your boots that I have a list of things I'd like to get our pups. But what to pick out for you my dear readers? I'd been browsing through their websites for a few days now trying to find the perfect thing to offer you, my awesome readers. As I setteled into my sofa, the lightbulbs went off.....

What about giving away a throw pillow?

If I can be totally honest with you, the pillows on my sofa came from the grocery store. The decorative home section of the grocery store, but still the grocery store non-the-less. They each cost $1 - a definate frugal find. But let's be honest, my sofa's need some spice. So since I can't win my own giveaway, I'd love for one of you lucky gals to scoop up this prize.

Say hello to this gorgeous Thomas Paul Nest pillow valued at $44! It's 18in x 18in stuffed pillow in green and white. Thomas Paul actually worked on neckwear collections for designers Bill Blass, Calvin Klein, and DKNY. Far cooler than my $1 grocery store pillows!

So it's so simple to win. Just leave me a comment! Easy peasy. If you do not have a blog, feel free to enter anway. Just make sure to leave an email address for me to get ahold of you. The contest will close Friday at midnight Eastern time. I'll announce the winner on Saturday. So what are you waiting for? Go leave a comment! Good luck!

My Giveaway!

Finally! It's my 100th post giveaway. Actually...it's more like 110. But who's really counting? We all want to just win something, right? I know I do! This is just my little thank you for coming to hang out with me in my neck of the blogging woods. I appreciate ya'll so much. Truly.

So!

Without further ado...here is my giveaway!

You have the chance to win a Family sign, a wooden pear, a 6-pack of purple embossed cards...the design is two sparrows in a tree (click on the photo to enlarge to kind of see the design), a tablet and a drawing of a sparrow that will be framed in a 4x6 or 5x7 frame. (I just have to go purchase the frame!) The drawing is by me.

So how do you enter? For one entery, leave me a comment. For another entry, blog about the giveaway. Just leave me another comment letting me know. The drawing will be on until Tuesday, February 24th.

Good luck ya'll!
