Sleeping Porches

Growing up, I had porches around me. The home we lived in had a large screened in porch where my sisters and I would play. On that porch was a glider and I remember it was fun to hang out on it. Both of my grandparents had screened in porches as well. Thinking back, I can just get to that place in my head. Feeling the breeze. Resting. Relaxing. Having lunch out there. And today, at my mom's home, there are two porches and one deck. We call the screened in porch "The Sunroom" and with the wicker furniture, it's nice to sit out there and relax.

I know that when we buy our next home, I hope to have a screened in porch. And with that, I'd like to make it a sleeping porch. Oh the joy and bliss of curling up in a semi-outdoors environment. Hearing the birds. Feeling the breeze. No bugs to attack your bliss. Oh gosh, how I want a sleeping porch sooo badly.

Here are a few photos of inspiration. Don't you find yourself feeling a little sleepy? I sure do.......

This photo from Pottery Barn makes my heart beat a bit faster. It's my inspiration.

I'd love to have a porch! Or even a "roof" over my patio. I think more builders in Texas should do that...since the sun is so brutal here in the summer.

I've always wanted a porch so I could have a porch swing.

Thanks for the lovely pics. I love porches. We have a small porch but it's too skinny to do much with...sigh.

Love! How I wish I had a screened in porch. Actually it would have to be a deck. The sliding doors off the kitchen are a floor up and currently just boarded off.

Yeah, I definitely need a sleeping porch! When I read your title I immediately thought of that Pottery Barn pic at the bottom of your post. I was gonna recommend it to you, but you saved the best for last.
