Homemade Pizza Recipe - Way Too Easy!

Homemade pizza with ham and two cheeses.

K, so I'm a pizza lover. I truly could eat it every day. All day. And then I'd blow up. But it wouldn't matter because I would die happy. Eating pizza.

But even when we get good deals on frozen pizza or at the pizzeria itself, pizza can be so expensive. So I dared to try to make it myself. With yeast and everything. (Making anything with yeast has always scared me because I just wasn't sure how to do it or wasn't sure about making the water the right temp or that it bloomed. I know, making a mountain out of a molehill.)

I found this great recipe and my love of pizza and cheap outweighed my fear of yeast. And I discovered that it was so easy. EASY! And delish! My hubby loved this pizza.

Pizza Dough

1 Tablespoon (or 1 packet) active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees F.)
2 Tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon each garlic powder, rosemary*, Italian seasoning

I didn't have rosemary on hand so I substituted oregano.

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add oil to water mixture. Combine dry ingredients and then add wet. Stir well. Knead in bowl - adding extra flour if necessary - until dough is smooth.

Press evenly onto very lightly greased pizza stone. Add sauce and toppings. Top with mozzarella cheese. (We also added a bit of cheddar.)

Bake at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is lightly browned. Enjoy!

Homemade pizza is the best kind! Last summer I made it and realized that everything on the pizza we had grown or made. Sausage from pigs I raised (for 4-H), goat cheese (also for 4-H), and tomatoes and herbs from my mom's garden. Crazy!

Looks delicious!! I make my own pizza on a regular basis... MUCH cheaper, and much nicer I think!

There is just nothing to compare to homemade pizza...my hubby loves hot dogs cut up on his pizza...and I have learned to love it also! My real favorite is the ham and pineapple for the added ingredients on the top! OK now I am ready to stir up a pizza! Have a great weekend!
