10 Minute Bedroom Re-Do

Nester has been doing a great series on taking just 10 minutes to create a room that you love. She shows quick and simple techniques on how to spruce up your space. She shows us yummy eye candy-type photos of her home to encourage us all along our sprucing up way.

My bedroom...or budiour as I like to call it...has needed a bit of sprucing. I love a space that is clean, organized and minus a lot of clutter. I have much bigger plans as far as decorating it goes...but I did the economical thing, and shopped my house. When I was done, I felt so incredibly wonderful. I just layed on top of my bed and smiled. It felt so wonderful to be in there.

Welcome to our love nest!

My Dresser
I corralled my lotions and potions in a much larger basket than they had previously been in. I don't like the visual clutter of them so it did me good to hid most of them. The candle is our unity candle from our wedding as well as the faux roses. A little sweet smell with a reed diffuser.

My Husbands Dresser
I carried the theme of the basket over to his dresser. In it is all of his junk. The basket is large enough and I'm short enough that I don't have to look at it all. Don't you just love how I have so many frames that DON'T have photos in them?

Nightstands
These babies (along with our dressers) came with the house. They used to be a hideous orange. I painted them chocolate instead. The cross-stitched print is from my mom. She made this for me a few years ago when I first moved to Canada to work. I love to keep it close to me.

The Heart
I just like having this single heart that my dad made me hanging above our bed. It seems like such a little love nest with it there.

My Shoe Organization
A quick peek into the closet. Here are most of my shoes. As you can see, there are a couple missing pairs...Oops! Forgot to put them away! I also keep my jewelery boxes on top of the shoe rack shelf instead of on top of my dresser.

While sprucing, I moved furniture and vaccuumed underneath everything. I cleaned dust off the baseboards. I also used my best smelling organic cleaning spray and cleaned all the surfaces of the dressers and nightstands. I then spritzed some plumeria linen spray. Ahh, smelled wonderful. All the sprucing up in the world won't be nearly as lovely if you've got dust and dirt all over the place.

Now head over to Nesting Place to see what other's have been up to! I can't wait!

Mandi, that looks so calm and restful, and I really like the paint color too! Orange dressers? Who does that? Love the brown, nice job.

You inspire me. I so need to do this to my room. I need to be doing this instead of all the crafting I've been doing. LOL!

Love that little hand-stitched sign. So sweet. I'd like one by every bed in our house!
It all looks so inviting and uncluttered.

Fourteen years ago I dropped everything, grabbed the kidlet and moved to San Diego from Portland, Maine to be with my husband.
It's been great and we even renewed our wedding vows last October.
Love the unity candle. Oh, I decided to take a photo of mine and will probably post it tomorrow.

I know this is an older post, but I just noticed the basket on your husband's dresser. I need that! I'm forever trying not to notice all the crap that ends up on my hubby's dresser, and I've decided he needs his own basket to corral the crap. I think I'll put one on his desk, too. Thanks for the idea!
