It Just Wasn't Our Scene...

I wanted to share with you how the craft show went for us. Well....let's just say....

It wasn't our scene.

We huddeled together for warmth because the temperature was about 40 degrees and windy. It was so cold that you could see your breath. So cold that we we borrowed sweaters to wear from people we didn't know.

Our table wasn't set up how we had hoped. It was so windy that everything kept falling over. The table cloth was whipping in the wind. The necklaces were getting tangled. We had a nice cupboard to display our little signs. But, the wind would have knocked that baby over.

Are these necklace holders not great? Sarah scooped them up at Pier 1 for $12 each!

At about 9:30 am, I looked over my shoulder to see this.

The llama's were our first big indication that this wasn't our scene.

Our table was set up in front of a speaker blasting Finnish music. Loud. Proud. Foreign. Loud.

Sarah and I were a foot away from one another, shouting, and we still couldn't hear each other.

I eventually moved the speaker.

Only to later find that a boy with his accordian was coming to play. He sat right next to me. If I wanted to (and oh did I ever) I could have reached over and knocked him to the ground. The microphone he was using coupled by the speaker directly behind us. Well, let's just say that ampliphied accordian music wasn't what I imagined for the show.

(And we weren't on our cell phones all day. Sarah was just making a video of the boy singing too.)

It just wasn't our scene.

It was a show with 10 craft vendors and the rest were yardsalers selling non-spraypaint enhancable junky junk. We were table #29...and there were many more after us.

Not our scene.

But we sold things. And we were super encouraged. Incredibly excited for the next shows. And really tossing around the idea of opening our own etsy.

I don't think I could have imagined a worse combination for you than freezing cold wind and accordian music. GROSS!
Way to keep in high spirits with the selling tho. Congrats on your sales!

I am laughing so hard at this post! That is exactly the experience I would have if I did a craft show. It is great you have such a good sense of humor about it,and that you sold some stuff. Regardless of how it went, you looked cutie patootie in that hot pink jacket!

You guys should totally open an etsy shop!

You should keep selling, look at your very cute stuff. The bags are darn cute.

It's kind of disappointing when you work toward something, imagine something, and it's completely the opposite. BUT...you sold stuff!!!!
Have a great day.

I'm cracking up at you! Glad you have such a good sense of humor about the experience :) And glad you didn't really knock the little accordion kid off his chair - lol!

You girls have some GREAT stuff - I know you'll do well {somewhere else}.

Yeah. Anytime the llamas show up, you know things aren't going to be what you expected.

I'm glad you sold some things though - in spite of all the randomness, accordians and cold weather!

LOL Austin started dancing to the music when I played the videos. Maybe he lived in Finland in his previous life.

The situation sounds awful!! But at least you guys sold stuff in the crappy conditions! Congrats! When is the next craft fair?

I am sorry it wasn't what you hoped it would be! Looks like you were freezing...that would have been enough for me! But at least you got your feet wet, as they say! Better luck next time?

Oh girl...I feel your pain! Been there, done that. Yes, the llama and the finish music and the accordian player were HUGE clues that this was probably not your scene. I'm sorry it wasn't more enjoyable, but it sounds like you have a great attitude and are ready for the future!

What was a llama and Finnish music doing at a craft show?!

Love your table of stuff...so cute! I'm glad you had some sales!

Don't give up! Your stuff is too cute not to sell. With the right fair you will be taking orders because you will run out of merchandice! :)

It still makes me laugh! I think you two have some good stuff; keep working at it - you'll find your niche.

I'm making an order! See you soon.

Maybe you'll make it to BC to a Craft Fair?!

Loved reading this! Well, even if it wasn't your scene at least you had a very amusing blog entry to post :). Cute stuff by the way.

Mandi, I don't know how I missed this the first time, but I just came over here to see how you're doing and stumbled on this post. I was laughing my head off, especially at the accordian boy!
I hope all is well, friend!
